Practice Nurse – Enrolled

Murray Valley Aboriginal Cooperative (MVAC) was established in 1974 with a vision to provide health, housing, and childcare/education services to our community. About this role

MVAC is seeking an Enrolled Nurse to support of clinical team in the MVAC Health Service. The main purpose of the role is to be accountable for delivering culturally safe, evidence based nursing care within their scope of practice, while supporting holistic, community controlled primary health care. The role focuses on direct clinical care, chronic disease and preventative health, care coordination, documentation, and participation in quality and cultural safety activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct holistic assessments within the Best Interests Case Practice Framework.
  • Work intensively with children and families to increase parenting capacity, improve family functioning, and enhance conditions for child development.
  • Plan, implement, and review both short-term crisis support and long-term family engagement.
  • Monitor and assess risks to children, liaising with Child Protection and internal managers where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate client records, care plans, and reports to meet quality, statutory, and funding requirements.
  • Assist in developing Early Help Services programs in line with Department of Family Fairness & Housing objectives.
  • Participate in regular staff, team, and supervision meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with MVAC’s child safety policies, legislative requirements, and best practice standards.

Key Requirements

Essential:


  • Registration with AHPRA
  • Experience in Primary Healthcare, preferably in not-for-profit or community-focused settings.
  • Understanding of Child Safety Standards and child protection laws.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, email, data entry, and record management.
  • Current Working with Children Check (linked to MVAC).
  • Police Check (issued within the last 3 months).
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence.

Hours

Monday – Thursday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Friday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
