NAIDOC 2021

This year we kicked off NAIDOC week with a bang during our flag raising ceremony. Many People attended the day in celebrating our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and raising our flags. Aunty Rose Kirby graced us by opening the “Welcome to the Country” and “Acknowledging the Traditional custodians of the land”. The 4 Elder sisters; Elvira Wighton, Sharon Johnson, Geraldine Johnson & Raylene Smith who raised the flags for us. Brenden played the Digeridoo and the clap sticks, while Richard conducted the smoking ceremony.
Aunty Susan Baxter and her young team of dancers (Mia, Harmony, Faith, Miriyan & Wayn) provided us with a traditional dance.
On our Community Day (Friday/9 July), MVAC had Coolamon Kids marquee, face painting, jumping castle, BBQ, Art display, fun children activities and basketball. Check out the photos below.

We are at the midway point of our 12-week swimming program and the progress has been deadly! Since starting on December 1st, our kids (ages 3+) have been showing up at the pool with incredible energy and determination.

On Saturday 15th November, the community came together at the Euston Club for the MVAC NAIDOC Ball 2025, and it was truely a night to remember. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week, we embraced this year's powerful theme. The room was filled with pride as we honoured our culture, our history, and the future leaders who will carry our legacy forward.
