Maintenance Crew Member

Job Description: The maintenance crew member is part of a team responsible for the overall general maintenance of MVAC facilities and properties. This includes all aspects of general maintenance from maintaining property, equipment, natural resource management, landscaping, and other related manual project work. This position involves work across different programs and/or locations as business requires and involves working under direct supervision (and on occasion independently for low risk activities) assisting in a variety of routine manual labour and skilled tasks.

You must have a valid and current Working With Children’s Check, current National Police Check.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide manual labouring skills, operation of small power tools, plant and equipment required for the maintenance, repair or construction of MVAC assets
  • AParticipate as a member of the maintenance crew to ensure project tasks and schedules are carried out effectively, efficiently and in a safe manner
  • Assist in the implementation of natural resource management projects, including pest plant and pest animal management, revegetation, fencing, landscaping and other works directed by the Maintenance Crew Leader or Housing Manager
  • Ensure that assigned tasks or projects is actioned and completed within agreed timeframes
  • Ensure work undertaken achieves minimum safety and quality standard
  • Actively participates in safe work activities and ensures environmental risk is addressed or avoided through proper procedures of work
  • Read and adhere to the Murray Valley Aboriginal Cooperatives policies and procedures this includes completing required formwork
  • Provide support to the Maintenance Crew Leader and Housing Manager
  • Participate in safe start toolbox meetings


      Qualifications and Experience:

      • Experience in general maintenance work
      • Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate
      • Current Manual Driver’s Licence
      • 4WD training (highly desirable) and qualifications in skid steer machinery operation (preferred)
      • WHS Construction Induction White Card, or ability to obtain
      • Minimum Certificate III qualification in relevant field, for example Natural Resource Management; Civil Construction; Carpentry; Building and Construction
      • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (desirable)
