Social & Emotional Wellbeing

The term social and emotional wellbeing is used by many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to describe the social, emotional, spiritual, and cultural wellbeing of a person. The term recognises that connection to land, culture, spirituality, family, and community are important to people and can impact on their wellbeing.


It also recognises that a person’s social and emotional wellbeing is influenced by policies and past events.

Our Objectives


  • Engage with consumers their families and local Aboriginal communities to develop trusting and professional relationships.
  • Manage client assessment, provide support and referral
  • Develop, undertake and promote best practice models of service delivery for regional Aboriginal communities
  • Provide direct practical support to Aboriginal consumers so that they gain/maintain independent living skills
  • Assist consumers to participate in cultural recreation activities
  • Work with consumer’s family to support them through periods of difficulty
  • Financial counselling
